Longaevitas Global de Mexico LLC is a regulated SOFOM-ER. It is a “bank no bank”. It’s focus is the reduction of the overall cost of capital for our clients through structured financial modeling. We provide innovative strategic advice to a diverse client base, we assist our clients in achieving their strategic goals by offering comprehensive, integrated financial services. We serve both the private and public sectors.

Our advisory practice supports our clients through our expert capacities in Recapitalization and Restructuring, Capital Markets and debt Capital Markets.

What is Structured Finance?

Structured Finance is the part of the financial industry involved with non-traditional fixed income products that aim to target stable and predictable cash flows. Structured Finance aims to provide solutions to investment objectives not sufficiently covered by traditional Fixed Income products.

Recapitalization and restructuring

Our teams have completed over 30 transactions involving more than 700 Million of liabilities. We partner our recapitalization and restructuring team with our strategic partner industry bankers to deliver tailored advice and solutions in all types of liability-driven capital structure situations and challenges. Our team is unique in that we combine liability management experience, and technology with deep, credit-driven restructuring analysis.

Public Finance and Infrastructure

The Public Finance and Infrastructure (PFIT) team was created to finance Mexican State debt.

The PFIT core principles require that all its services should be aimed to:

  • Promote fiscal responsibility and long term financial planning;

  • Find creative ways to provide access to our customers to the financial markets on the best terms and conditions; and

  • Design and implement tailored solutions for our customers.


The main services provided by the PFIT are the following:


Institutional financial development: The PFIT provides advice and implementation to Mexican State governments in debt restructuring and infrastructure funding. The unique structured debt program provides medium and long term debt at less than Mexican sovereign interest rates.


Traditional debt includes liens, bank reporting, and restrictive covenants that can cause the State to lose flexibility in the management of its balance sheet. Our PFIT note is collateralized by longevity linked assets only and is therefore non-recourse. Our PFIT team can structure, collateralize, and directly place State Government notes on a “Turn-Key Basis”.

Leonard G. Malcolm PhD, Managing Director

  • Dr. Leonard G. Malcolm brings over 35 years of investment banking experience to his role as Co-Founder and Senior Managing Director of Longævitas Global de Mexico, LLC.  He is an accomplished economist, and multinational executive. He founded, capitalized and managed American Capitol Partners, a privately owned boutique investment bank. The bank successfully raised over 22 billion dollars in equity and debt financing for both the public and private sectors of Mexico, Argentina and Chile.

  • Dr. Malcolm was president/CEO of  Banco Lambert de Mexico SA, also Chairman of Banco Lambert de Argentina SA,  as well as Banco Lambert de Chile SA. The Banks arranged or syndicated more than 60 billion dollars in domestic infrastructure and project finance.  Dr. Malcolm was instrumental in the founding of the Mexico City Stock Exchange where he was one of the first directors of the Exchange.

  • He was a member of the Board of Directors of Cementos Mexicanos SA (CEMEX), Grupo Bal SA, Banco Azteca SA and Banco IXE SA.  He is a strategic advisor to Operadora de Bolsa SA, Mexico and Argentina's largest domestic investment bank.

  • Dr. Malcolm received his doctorate in Economics from the London School of Economics & Political Science.  He resides in Ensenada, BCN, Mexico.

Steven M. Powell MBA, Director

  • Mr. Powell brings a combination of financial management, institutional consulting, and knowledge of longevity linked asset structuring to his role as Senior Managing Partner. Powell has held numerous C-level positions in the financial services industry with responsibility for strategy, research & development, operations, sales, marketing, and technology combining all of these as CEO of a community banking institution.

  • As Chief Operating Officer for CDO Capital, Inc., Mr. Powell provided financial consulting and the asset structuring framework for collateralization projects involving longevity linked assets ranging from US$25 million to US$1.5 billion. Prior to that, as Executive VP of Bluepoint Solutions, Mr. Powell created a consulting division to implement technology solutions through business process improvement efforts in the financial services market. Mr. Powell acted as Bluepoint’s product manager in the successful development and launch of a real-time check imaging project deployed at the teller station to truncate checks. Before Bluepoint, Mr. Powell led strategy and marketing functions for a $25 billion wholesale financial services firm. His unique combination of financial and management skills provides him with the ability to oversee complex operations and client services on behalf of Longaevitas Global and its affiliates.

  • Mr. Powell received his Master of Business Administration, Summa cum Laude, from the Peter F. Drucker Management School of the Claremont Graduate University. Mr. Powell resides in a suburb of San Diego, CA.

Ricardo A. Kegel, Business & Economic Development

  • Ricardo A. Kegel has more than 30 years of economic development experience within the public and private sectors of Mexico and brings extensive experience in the planning and implementation of large economic development projects to Longaevitas Clients. Mr. Kegel has in-depth knowledge of Economic Development theories and practices. He is in constant contact with the local, regional and territorial economic development opportunities available to our clients. He has the ability to develop and analyze the business plans of our clients and then match the appropriate opportunity with our clients’ needs.

  • Mr. Kegel was the most Senior Economic Development Officer within the State Government of Guanajuato, Mexico. In this role, he created the action plan to implement his economic development strategy for the auto industry within Mexico’s Industrial Corridor which includes the Mexican States of Guanajuato, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, and Aguascalientes. He provided advice and market analysis to his clients who then located their manufacturing and warehousing within the Industrial Corridor.

  • Mr. Kegel has developed four private industrial parks and was responsible for the planning and implementation of the State of Guanajuato’s Inland Port project. He was responsible for more than $2 billion in investment; including, 56 major auto manufacturers and assemblers deciding to establish their operations within the Industrial Corridor. His clients include GM, Pirelli Tires, Volkswagen, Mazda, Honda, Denso Electronics, Hino Motors, Ryobi, Japan’s leading die castor, and Kinugawa Mexico.

  • Mr. Kegel received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, Mexico. He currently resides in Leon, GTO, Mexico.

Julio Escandon Palomino, Director

  • Julio Escandon has more than 20 years helping major Mexican companies and Mexico’s trade associations develop their international markets. He has promoted more than 300 Million USD of foreign investment into Mexico.

  • He was the Mexican negotiator of the commodity chapter of the NAFTA agreement. He further negotiated unilateral trade treaties between Mexico and Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Israel, and the European Union, as well as Japan. He resolved many commodity related trade disputes with Mexico’s NAFTA partners, including the sugar vs. corn sweetener dispute with the USA.

  • Mr. Escandón was educated in Mexico, the U.S.A. and Switzerland. He received his professional degree in Economics from the Anahuac University in Mexico City, and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from San Diego State University in California, U.S.A., He is currently candidate for a Ph. D. in Strategic Management and Public Policy. Mr. Escandón has been invited as speaker to several conferences for topics related to agribusinesses, international trade, sugar and ethanol. For eleven years he has been a professor teaching Export Business Plan and international trade negotiations in the graduate schools of private universities in Mexico.

  • He is currently the Director of the Center for International Agribusiness at the Universidad Anáhuac.

Our Team

Gustavo Meillón was Managing Partner at SAI Consultores for 7 years where he collaborated in the design and placement of the first structured risk instrument for the Afores, he also led the structuring team of the first IPO of a SAPIB in the BMV. Gustavo has participated in multiple transactions of M&A, Private Equity and Debt & Capital Markets. Prior to SAI, he worked as a Business Consultant for several national and international companies. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana where he teaches Engineering Economy since 2006 and holds an MBA Finance from the University of Leeds, U.K., he was awarded the Chevening Scholarship from the British Council. He is a member of the Board of Grupo CyC, Sin Tráfico and Matcha Kaori.

Gustavo Meillón

Juan Pablo Morfin has over 15 years of experience in management positions. He has worked in the automobile industry, public health, telecommunications, education and housing developments at companies such as GM, Zeneca, Novartis, MaxCom and Integer Group. His main areas of expertise are corporate finance, business development, capitalization, strategic planning, negotiation, internal control and marketing. He has been in the financial sector since 1999 and has managed business units, assets and capitalization in over 15 countries in Europe, South America and North America, focusing primarily on planning and business development, financial modeling, debt capitalization and risk, portfolio management, budget control and treasury management. Juan Pablo is an Industrial Engineer who graduated from the U. Anahuac del Sur (1992), has an MBA from the U. of Wisconsin Whitewater (1995) and is a PhD candidate in Strategic Planning by the U. Anahuac North (1999).

Juan Pablo Morfin

Pablo worked as an analyst in a Private Equity firm in San Francisco doing Equity Research in different projects. Prior working as an analyst, Pablo worked in a Leasing Company, where he was responsible for creating lease documents for customers. Pablo holds a BE, in Finance from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.

Pablo Olavarri

Over the last 10 years, Mr. Cervantes has accumulated a vast experience as a board member of some of Mexico’s leading corporations, investment banker and operator in several industries. Mr. Cervantes currently serves or has served on the board of Kuo(MX: KUO), Dine (MX: DINE), Beta San Mónica, BCBA Impulse, Reasinterand Polycromamong others.Prior to PC Capital, Mr. Cervantes worked as a banker for IXE bank in Mexico and JP Morgan in New York, where he executed multiple equity and debt capital markets transactions ranging in size from US$2 to US$200MM. Prior to his banking experience, Mr. Cervantes also served as chief operating officer of  Polycrom, one of Mexico’s leading conglomerates with over US $500MM in revenues generated from its agriculture, dairy products, sugar processing, and real estate businesses in Mexico & Spain.  Before Polycrom, Mr. Cervantes worked as Director of Risk analysis of Reasinter in the Reinsurance sector.  Mr. Cervantes is a Chemical Engineer from Universidad Iberoamericana and holds an MBA from Mexico’s IPADE Business School.

Pablo Cervantes

Mr. Godard has over 10 years of experience in Private Equity, Investment Bank and Debt Financing in Mexico and Latin America. Prior to PC Capital, Gerardo structured and placed over 10 transactions in the Mexican debt public market, of over US$300 MM and completed a wide range of private M&A transactions in sectors such as Retail & Consumer, Food, Pharmaceuticals, Tech, Financial Institutions and Real Estate as Investment Banking and Corporate Financing Subdirector at INVEX. He Co-founded Kandeo Private Equity Fund, fund that has more than US$400 MM in AUM from institutional investors. Worked in Editorial Televisa and Samsung Electronics Mexico. Gerardo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Gerardo Godard

Hermann has over 30 years of experience in diverse areas of business, which has provided him with a broad exposure to international corporations as well as diverse business cultures. He has specialized in international business development, having assisted many North American, Canadian and European companies in their introduction to Mexico. For almost 10 years, Hermann was a Senior Partner at ConTrade Mexico, a consulting firm specialized in assisting foreign companies enter the Mexican market. During these years he conducted a wide variety of projects, custom designed to meet each clients’ specific needs, from the identification of a potential distributor, to the acquisition of a company already positioned in the market. During 3 years he was director of the Market Intelligence Unit at Marketing Group, which is one of the largest market research and intelligence firms in Mexico. He was directly involved in the creation of the consulting division, which enabled the Firm to provide more integrated services to its clients. Hermann was also a pioneer in the introduction to Mexico of the franchising system, being one the founding members of the Mexican Franchise Association. During 12 years he was involved in the industry. He founded a company that acted as a broker for American franchise companies, for their introduction and development in Mexico. During this period, he led the team that acquired several Master Franchises for Mexico. Hermann obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering from the National University of Mexico, and has taken many courses in analysis and evaluation of investment projects, strategic planning, international business development, business development in Latin America. Hermann holds a BE, in Mechanical Engineering with a specialty in Engineering from Universidad Autonoma de Mexico.

Hermann Warnholtz

Prior to joining PC Capital’s team, Andres worked at the Mexican ratings agency, HR Ratings as an Infrastructure Intern, where he was involved in different ratings, including some of the most important highways in the country. Andres holds a BE in Finance from Universidad Iberoamerican in Mexico City, as well as doing a semester abroad in Universidad Complutense in Madrid.

Andres Ovalle

Mr. Coria has been an Investment Banker for more than 20 years.  Currently, he is a Partner and Managing Director in PC Capital, which is one of Mexico’s best local Private Equity and Investment Banking firms.  Luis joined PC Capital in 2014. Prior to joining PC Capital, Mr. Coria was the Head of BNP Paribas’s Corporate and Investment Banking team in Mexico.  He held this responsibility for more than 7 years.  Previously, Mr. Coria spend several years working in Senior Investment Banking positions for JP Morgan in NY and Mexico. Mr. Coria has participated in leading roles in debt and equity capital financings worth more than US$ 15 Billion, mergers and acquisitions worth more than US$ 2 Billion, risk management transactions worth more than US$ 2 Billion, significant debt restructurings and in other relevant financial transactions. Mr. Coria holds a B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Luis Coria

Mr. Capriles served as VP of Corporate Development at Suelopetrol, an Oil & Gas independent company focused in Exploration and Production of Hydrocarbons. During this time he was a board member and the designated official representing the company in several businesses where the group held interest including Oil & Gas ventures in Mexico, USA, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Besides having direct exposure to day to day operations, Mr. Capriles was thoroughly involved in planning and execution of multi-billion dollar projects, asset bidding rounds, JVs, farm-ins/outs, divestures, E&P contract negotiations with government officials, corporate finance, project financing and business unit profitability turnaround initiatives. Previously Mr. Capriles was a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group’s New York and Mexico City Offices, specializing in Industrial Goods and Financial Services, executing growth strategy projects, market opportunity analyses, competitive benchmarking and post-merger integrations. Mr Capriles holds a Civil Engineering degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Vicente E. Capriles

Rodrigo worked as an analyst at a Private Equity fund, focused on the Food and Beverage industry. He also developed his professional career while working at Investment Banking firms in Mexico City, collaborating in projects of great magnitude.
